Great American Scholarship Foundation (GASF) is specifically designed to present to Korean American college-bound students have served non-Korean American community significantly and have a positive impact on the communities.


GASF wants to encourage and motivate young Americans of Korean Ancestry Students to volunteering activities more in our neighborhoods, local communities, and the United States.

Who we are


Purpose


The Great American Scholarship Foundation (GASF) was created to facilitate the distribution of financial support to Korean American college-bound high school seniors of children of Korean American Immigrants.


The GASF seeks to encourage and reward those students who personally engage in and contribute to the advancement of civic activities within their own neighborhoods, local communities and the greater United States. 

First Scholarship Award


  • The GASF will open its online portal to receive applications on October 10, 2024. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2025. Winners will be notified on February 29, 2025, and the GASF Award Ceremony will take place on March 29, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia. Location TBD.


  • The estimated total scholarship size in Year One is: $50,000 with 5 candidates receiving $10,000 scholarships each

Initial Scholarship Award Selection Area


At present, while the GASF endowment continues to grow, the GASF is limited to supporting those qualifying students who reside within the five Federation of Korean American Associations in the Southeastern United States:


Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. 

The Scholarship Application information


  1. Korean American College-bound high school senior – Class of 2024
  2. One of the applicant’s parents must be a Korean American immigrant
  3. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen currently residing in either Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee
  4. Must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and significant recorded volunteer service hours during high school
  5. Scoring rubric as follows:
  • Non-Korean American Community Volunteer Service: 50%
  • Academic GPA: 10%
  • Letters of Recommendation: 3 at 10% each (parent, school administrator/teacher and community leader)
  • Family Income / Financial Need: 10% 

  6. The scholarship grant will be awarded to the            grantee to be deposited at the designated                educational institution of matriculation.
